HCA Member Show 2023

86 work of art were submitted to enter the show this year from 20 towns and 2 states. The artwork submitted this year was excellent, and narrowing it down was extremely difficult. However, the works selected will make a powerful portrayal of our community of artists.  Juror Sarah Alexander selected 55 for display in the gallery. She is a Core Artist Member at Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.  Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, as well as abroad. Sarah's work has been published by North Light Books, and she was recently a featured artist in the NARM Quarterly magazine.

The HCA Members Show 2023 Exhibition will be available for viewing at the HCA's Lotvin Family Gallery December 29, 2022 - January 26, 2023 as well as online here.

The HCA gallery hours for public viewing: Monday - Fridays 9 am - 7 pm and Saturdays 9 am - 2 pm. If you wish to bring a group of 6 or more people to view the exhibit, please contact the HCA in advance to schedule a group visit.

Joseph Gammal

Dimensions: 6 x 6 x 0.5
Medium: Acrylic Paint
Year created: 2022
What inspired you to make this work?: It was the last assignment of my first HCA art class. Using acrylic as the experiment, we were invited to paint anything. I love sunsets on the water and, somehow, this reflection of what could be a moonrise in a sunset emerged. What began to intrigue me as I painted was the idea of polarities and paradoxes where what might seem as opposites or contradictions in the moment, are both true -- e.g. the sun in the moon, the conscious in the unconscious, the dark in the light -- and the necessary relationship of both as witnessed in their reflection of each other. Plus I didn't know what I was doing and it was just fun!
